Rawane Issa

Research Engineer

Background

Rawane is a cryptography researcher and engineer whose core work ethic involves protecting the digital privacy of all people, and who believes that privacy should be a basic human right. She is very excited about furthering the adoption of cryptographic tools in practice, making them more accessible and understandable for all people and demonstrating their potential for advancing important aspects of social welfare.

Rawane works in fields such as secure multi-party computation, differential privacy, zero-knowledge proofs, homomorphic encryption, and other related technologies. As an engineer, she loves contributing to open source software.

She obtained her Ph.D. in Computer Science from Boston University in 2022 and was advised by Mayank Varia. Prior to that, Rawane completed her bachelor's degree in Computer and Communication Engineering from the American University of Beirut in 2016.
